As some of you may have heard $spyed and $Heidi invited myself and `dammitMEL, =shadowed-light-waves, =WrathOfNessis, and @DreamingMyth to the secret location of DeviantArt's offices to discuss and polish some upcoming changes to the website that will be launched in approximately four weeks.

Some of you may not know about the admin culture or have some poor views of $spyed or other members of the staff here at DA. I can assure you that every important decision for the site is made for the betterment of the community and I am left in awe over the extreme level of commitment and passion they have for developing this community.

I must warn you that these features are in development and these details may, and probably will, change.

With that being said, we were brought in to discuss DA's new feature: Groups. While this is a mechanism to replace and better club accounts with the ability to administrate users ala a group on Facebook or Flickr, it's much more than that. Groups will be dynamic entities; if a founder is inactive then other admins can take over, or if the group is inactive then it will dissolve. Groups will have the ability to create applications or guidelines to join, although I'm not sure if this will be a launch feature. Group members will be able to see feeds of the deviations submitted.

We will get an extremely powerful new search function with some functions built in that Google doesn't even have. The recent limit on the message center count is to allow DA to implement some new filtering functions so you can keep a better eye on your close friends while still allowing you to watch many good artists.

That's all I can really say about things for right now and I want to extend another big thank you to $spyed and $Heidi along with everyone else at the DA headquarters for working so hard and being such great people. I hope they both have an amazing time on their recently decided on world tour to promote DA, where they will be visiting 15 cities.
